My Takeaways

Something Old

About the Silversmith

The silversmith looks at the piece of metal, the dross, and process:

  • Recognizes the potential.
  • Knows the value.
  • Desires the highest quality.

About Our Silversmith

The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
2 Chronicles 16:9a

The silversmith looks at the piece of metal, the dross, and process:

  • Recognizes the potential.
  • Knows the value.
  • Desires the highest quality.

These trials are only to test your faith, to see whether or not it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies it—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold; so, if your faith remains strong after being tried in the test tube of fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day of his return.
1 Peter 1:7 (TLB)

Trails are:

  • to test your faith,
  • to see whether or not it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests gold and purifies it—and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold;

He has to turn up the heat to do that.

  • Impurities come up from within, to the top, then they remove the dross.  The impurities can’t be found without being in the heat.
  • Around 1700 °F
  • The temperature has to be right or he will ruin the silver. (too much heat ruins, not enough does remove the impurities.)
  • Removing impurities takes skill, precision and care.

Something New

I can’t imagine hearing these words about me.

So now they will be humbled, and all will be brought low— do not forgive them.
Isaiah 2:9

Something to do

Let my Silversmith do His work so I become pure, spotless, and perfect in my Father’s eye.
