Today's Sponsor of the day is

Scripture:

2 KINGS 16:19-20, 2 CHRONICLES 28:26-27, ISAIAH 13:1-16:14

God’s Justice Will Prevail

I, the LORD, will punish the world for its evil
and the wicked for their sin.
I will crush the arrogance of the proud
and humble the pride of the mighty.

Isaiah 13:11

My Takeaways

Something Old

The rest of the events in Ahaz’s reign and everything he did are recorded in The Book of the History of the Kings of Judah. When Ahaz died, he was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. Then his son Hezekiah became the next king.
2 Kings 16:19-20

Something New

  • Isaiah prophesied the fall of Babylon before it was a dominant world power, demonstrating God's foreknowledge.
  • God is depicted as actively gathering and directing armies to execute His judgment against Babylon.
  • The destruction is described as a catastrophic "day of the LORD," a time of divine wrath and cosmic upheaval.
  • Babylon's downfall is explicitly due to its pride, arrogance, and ruthless oppression.
  • Babylon, the once-glorious empire, is prophesied to become a perpetual, uninhabited ruin.
  • Conquered by the Medes and Persians (Daniel 5), Babylon eventually declined into desolation, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy.
  • No nation, ruler, or system is beyond God's control. He raises up and brings down powers according to His will.
  • Knowing God's absolute sovereignty provides comfort and perspective in times of political uncertainty.
  • Babylon's destruction was rooted in its pride. God consistently humbles the proud, whether individuals or nations.
  • The detailed and accurate fulfillment of this ancient prophecy confirms the reliability and truthfulness of the Bible.
  • The "Day of the LORD" for Babylon reminds us that God is the ultimate Judge. No evil or injustice will ultimately escape His righteous judgment.
  • Earthly power, wealth, and glory are temporary, just like Babylon's.
  • Our true hope and treasure lie in God and His eternal kingdom.

Something to do

Invest your time, energy, and resources on foundations that will last forever, do not seek temporary worldly glories.
