And if a town refuses to welcome you, shake its dust from your feet as you leave to show that you have abandoned those people to their fate.

Luke 9:5

My Takeaways

Something Old

Rejection of the gospel doesn’t relieve us from the responsibility of sharing the gospel.

It is possible to share the gospel without ever speaking a word.

How do we respond to constant rejection and possible violence?

  • Intercede, but don’t interfere.
  • Live righteously without being self-righteous.
  • Be ready to engage again, as the Lord leads.

And perhaps be a little softer than Paul…

  • But when they opposed and insulted him, Paul shook the dust from his clothes and said, “Your blood is upon your own heads—I am innocent. From now on I will go preach to the Gentiles.”
    Acts 18:6

Shake the Dust Off Your Shoes

Something New

Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
Mark 6:3

Something to do

Advance the gospel as loudly or as softly as the Lord leads.
