Fruit trees of all kinds will grow along both sides of the river. The leaves of these trees will never turn brown and fall, and there will always be fruit on their branches. There will be a new crop every month, for they are watered by the river flowing from the Temple. The fruit will be for food and the leaves for healing.

Jeremiah 52:31-34–I wonder why the king of Babylon treated Jehoiachin so well?

• Ezekiel was given a vision of a river flowing from the temple to the Dead Sea. The river got deeper as it flowed out from the temple. It made the sea full of life. There were a great number of trees along each side of the river.
• There was a common association in ancient Near Eastern culture between temples and spring water. Some temples were considered to be founded upon springs of water.
• The Dead Sea is 1,296 ft below sea level, the lowest point on earth. There is no outlet, so there is a high mineral content from the water deposited there–a rate of 7 million tons per day. The water evaporates leaving this mineral content behind, making it around 30% salinity, compared to the ocean which is around 3.5% salinity. 
• The water flowing from the temple brought healing to every part of the process: the river itself, the trees alongside, and the Dead Sea which was filled with life.
• Living water that brings healing to all different areas of life should flow through us to others.
• Jesus is our living water. Our life in Jesus should bear the fruit of healing.
