Scripture:

EZEKIEL 5:1-9:11

The Purpose Of Destruction

The king and the prince will stand helpless, weeping in despair and the people’s hands will tremble with fear. I will bring on them the evil they have done to others, and they will receive the punishment they so richly deserve. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”

Ezekiel 7:27

My Takeaways

Something Old

It’s always been about:

  • Everyone knowing that He is Lord.
  • Every knee bowing and every tongue confessing that He is Lord.

It often takes destruction to bring about the realization that He is Lord.

Destruction can be avoided by getting to know He is Lord through commitment, surrender, and:

  • Obedience to His commands
  • Reading His Word.
  • Fellowship with Him through prayers.

Through these steps, God is moved to build, rather than destruct.

  • A life of freedom.
  • A life of peace.
  • A life of joy.
  • A life of love.

Something New

  1. Does exile, separation, made by my sin cause me to remember God or pull further away from Him?
  2. Does it concern me that my sin hurts the Lord?

Then when they are exiled among the nations, they will remember me. They will recognize how hurt I am by their unfaithful hearts and lustful eyes that long for their idols.
Ezekiel 6:9a

Something to do

Do what it takes to allow God to build the life He’s always planned for me, rather than hurt Him through disobedience and idolatry which invites the destruction of the life I’ve attempted to build for myself.
