That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.”

Acts 23:11

Paul really wanted to go on to Rome

• Afterward Paul felt compelled by the Spirit to go over to Macedonia and Achaia before going to Jerusalem. “And after that,” he said, “I must go on to Rome!” 
  Acts 19:21

• One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord.
  Romans 1:10-11

And the Lord assured him that he would give him the desire of his heart

• Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
  Psalm 37:4

But He didn’t tell Paul he would be preaching from a prison cell.

Sometimes God doesn’t tell us all the details of his plan. Perhaps the plan is:

• Too much to bear.
• Something we would try to complete ourselves.
• Fearful and we might tuck and run.

How do I handle not having all the details of the plans God has for my life?

Aren’t you the Egyptian who led a rebellion some time ago and took 4,000 members of the Assassins out into the desert?
Acts 21:38

About the incident and the Egyptian:

• The mentioned Egyptian led a ragged army of four thousand men to the Mount of Olives where they declared they would take over the temple mount.

Even if the plans are plain and laid out, I can trust the Lord with my future.
