God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world.
1 Corinthians 7:23
We often become enslaved by:
Power - possess or exercise authority or influence.
Position - high standing, as in society; important status
Possessions – property or wealth
Prestige -reputation or influence arising from success, achievement, rank, or other favorable attributes.Â
Greatness is not found in possession, power, position, or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service, and character. - William Arthur Ward (scholar, author, editor, pastor, and teacher)
In [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].
Galatians 5:1 (AMPC)
What a frightening thought?
So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time—before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.
1 Corinthians 4:5
Power, position, possessions, and prestige are His not mine. Don’t forget this! It is about His fame and His name.
