Scripture:

ACTS 12:6-14:20

Perfect Peace

The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, he was asleep, fastened with two chains between two soldiers. Others stood guard at the prison gate.

Acts 12:6

My Takeaways

Something Old

Peace isn’t defined by our circumstances.

Because of his faith in Jesus:

  • Peter could sleep in peace.
  • Peter was free, even though he was in chains.
  • Peter could trust the leading of the angel.

How is it possible to experience this kind of peace?

  • I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
    John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]

    John 14:27 (AMPC)
  • You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
    Isaiah 26:3

Something New

Peter went to John Mark’s house when he left prison.

When he realized this, he went to the home of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many were gathered for prayer.
Acts 12:12

Something to do

Oh, the perfect peace of Jesus… I long for it.
