This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham. 

Matthew 1:1

This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. It began just as the prophet Isaiah had written:

“Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
and he will prepare your way.
He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming!
Clear the road for him!’
Mark 1:1-3

• The Old Testament is an uncompleted story. 
• There are problems not yet solved. 
• There are hopes not yet realized. 
• God’s plan from the beginning was to bring sinners back into relationship with Him. 
• God’s plan from the beginning was always Jesus. 
• God prepared His people to receive Christ and understand His work throughout the Old Testament. 
• God gave His people the Law, but they couldn’t keep it. 
• God gave His people priests, but they were corrupt. 
• God gave His people judges, but a broken savior could never save. 
• God gave His people kings, but the kings were unfaithful. 
• God gave His people prophets, but no one would listen. 
• We need a perfect law-keeper. 
• We need an all-powerful judge. 
• We need a faithful king. 
• We need an eternal priest. 
• We need a prophet. 
• He is here. 
• “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!”
  John 5:39

The New Testament opens, but it continues the Story. We need both the Old and the New. Read the Gospels and watch what Jesus does, listen to what Jesus says, and pay attention to how He reveals Himself. We are to follow in His ways…the truth in love. Get ready. Stand firm. Be bold. The world needs Jesus.
