NEHEMIAH 3:1-5:13, NEHEMIAH 6:1-7:3

Working For The Kingdom

Tobiah the Ammonite, who was standing beside him, remarked, “That stone wall would collapse if even a fox walked along the top of it!”

Nehemiah 4:3

My Takeaways

Something Old

Following the Lord… accepting the assignment angers the enemy and invites his interference.

Sanballat was very angry when he learned that we were rebuilding the wall. He flew into a rage and mocked the Jews.
Nehemiah 4:1

His goal is to

  • Stop us from accepting the assignment.
  • Discourage our progress.
  • Turn our back on God.

We have to:

  • Address the enemy.
  • Stay engaged in the work.
  • Keep praying.
  • Know the truth.
  • Work with greater determination.
  • Ask God to take care of them.

But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.
2 Chronicles 15:7 (ESV)

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28 (ESV)

So, humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

Something New

Women worked on the wall. I love the picture of a daddy and his daughters working together.

Shallum son of Hallohesh and his daughters repaired the next section. He was the leader of the other half of the district of Jerusalem.
Nehemiah 3:12

Something to do

Don’t get discouraged doing good… keep on doing good.
