The Cause Of The Lord

Does anyone remember this house—this Temple—in its former splendor? How, in comparison, does it look to you now? It must seem like nothing at all!

Haggai 2:3

My Takeaways

Something Old

The cause of the Lord is to fulfill the mission of God which Jesus clearly outlined in Matthew 28:19-20

Therefore, go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” (TLB)

Am I carrying out the cause of the Lord?

  • Could it be that I get comfortable and allow the cause of the Lord to suffer?
  • Could it be that I get comfortable and allow complacency to become an excuse to sidestep the cause of the Lord?
  • Could it be that I disguise complacency as “waiting on God’s timing,” rather than moving on the next assignment for the cause of the Lord?
  • Could it be that I excuse “waiting on God’s timing” as spiritual laziness to avoid the cause of the Lord?

Something New

An angel prayed! Never noticed this in Zechariah.

Upon hearing this, the angel of the LORD prayed this prayer: “O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, for seventy years now you have been angry with Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. How long until you again show mercy to them?”
Zechariah 1:12

Something to do

Am I fulfilling the cause of the Lord as Holy Spirit has directed? Am I willing to accept a change in direction?
