My Takeaways

Something Old

Keep/Protect

Shamar (shaw-mar'): keep, kept, careful, observe, guard, keeps, watch

He knows, based on past experiences that:

  • High places are home to other gods and distractions.
  • Dangers and threats are always present.
  • His God is with him.

We are also on a journey to Holy City, the high and holy city called Heaven. We will gather with hundreds of thousands to:

  • Commemorate the ultimate Passover.
  • Celebrate our final rescue.

Because of faith in Christ, and His faithfulness to us we can be certain that:

  • High places are home to other gods and distractions.
  • Dangers and threats are always present.
  • Our God with us.

We can be confident in this:

We will not be overthrown.

  • “Our feet shall move in progress, but they shall not be moved to their overthrow.” - Charles Spurgeon

We will not be kept from all evil.

  • “In the light of other scriptures, to be kept from all evil does not imply a cushioned life, but a well-armed one.” - Derek Kidner

We will arrive at our ultimate destination.

  • “He has not led me so tenderly thus far to forsake me at the very gate of heaven.” - Charles Spurgeon

His head is on a swivel.

“For His eyes are upon the ways of a person, and He sees all his steps.”
Job 34:21 (NASB)

Something New

Lord, we have had our fill of contempt. Please have mercy on us God, please rescue us.

Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy,
for we have had our fill of contempt.
We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud
and the contempt of the arrogant.
Psalm 123:3-4

Something to do

Enjoy the journey. He’s got my back, my front, and all my sides.
