The Grace Of God

So the LORD was very angry with Israel, and He allowed King Hazael of Aram and his son Ben-hadad to defeat them repeatedly.

2 Kings 13:3

My Takeaways

Something Old

About Israel

  • God allowed the continual defeat of Israel because of the sin of Jehoahaz.
  • God heard the prayers of Jehoahaz and provided rescue for Israel.
  • Israel continues to sin by following the example of Jeroboam.

Grace survey

  • Do I treat God’s grace carelessly?
  • Do I accept it with humility and gratitude?
  • Does the generosity of God’s grace cause me to sin less?

About God’s grace and His forgiveness:

  • Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
    Psalm 32:5
  • If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
    Psalm 66:18 (ESV)
  • He does not punish us for all our sins; He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
    Psalm 103:10
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
    1 John 1:9 (ESV)

Something New

All evil leadership is compared to Jeroboam and all godly leadership is compared to David.

Leadership matters.

Something to do

Praise Him for His marvelous grace.
