Today's Sponsor of the day is

Scripture:

PSALM 12-17, PSALM 19-21

To Enter His Presence

Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to gossip
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends.
Those who despise flagrant sinners,
and honor the faithful followers of the LORD,
and keep their promises even when it hurts.
Those who lend money without charging interest,
and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.
Such people will stand firm forever.

Psalm 15:1-5

My Takeaways

Something Old

The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
Psalm 19:1-2

Something New

  • David wrote Psalm 15 after he had the Ark of the Covenant moved to Jerusalem.
  • David had been confronted with the weight and glory of the holiness of God.
  • David had been confronted with the magnificence of the presence of God.
  • The Bible constantly reminds us that God is not like us.
  • God is good and gracious towards us, but His holiness and glory set Him apart.
  • David asks the same questions that we do.
  • How good is good enough for God?
  • How good do you need to be to experience God’s presence and favor?
  • David describes a man who lives a lift that seems impossible.
  • Just be blameless and perfectly righteous and speak the truth all the time.
  • David knows that he is in trouble…and so are we.
  • This Psalm is one of desperation.
  • Good News: God provided that man.
  • Jesus came to live the life that I could never live…on my behalf.
  • Being a Christian is a declaration that you aren’t good enough, but Jesus is more than good enough on your behalf.
  • Our response is joy, freedom, and a desire to be more Christ-like.
  • “The gospel shows us a Law that must be fulfilled (destroying pride) and a Savior that fulfills it completely for us (destroying despair.)”  -  Tim Keller
  • 2 Corinthians 4:1-16

Something to do

Do not lose heart. Hold on to the greatness and goodness of Jesus.
