April 30, 2025

Today's Sponsor of the day is

Scripture:

2 SAMUEL 19:31-20:26, PSALM 7, 2 SAMUEL 21:1-22, 1 CHRONICLES 20:4-8

God Sees. God Knows.

I come to you for protection, O LORD my God.
Save me from my persecutors—rescue me!
If you don’t, they will maul me like a lion,
tearing me to pieces with no one to rescue me.
O LORD my God, if I have done wrong
or am guilty of injustice,
if I have betrayed a friend
or plundered my enemy without cause,
then let my enemies capture me.
Let them trample me into the ground
and drag my honor in the dust.

Interlude

Arise, O LORD, in anger!
Stand up against the fury of my enemies!
Wake up, my God, and bring justice!
Gather the nations before you.
Rule over them from on high.
The LORD judges the nations.
Declare me righteous, O LORD,
for I am innocent, O Most High!
End the evil of those who are wicked,
and defend the righteous.
For you look deep within the mind and heart,
O righteous God.
‍

God is my shield,
saving those whose hearts are true and right.
God is an honest judge.
He is angry with the wicked every day.

Psalm 7:1-11

My Takeaways

Something Old

“God’s way is perfect.
All the LORD’s promises prove true.
He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.”
2 Samuel 22:31

Something New

  • Charles Spurgeon called Psalm 7 the “Song of the Slandered Saint.”
  • Slander is defined as a false verbal statement that causes damage to another person’s reputation.
  • Through Psalm 7 we have lessons for how we should respond to gossip and slander.
  • David responded by seeking refuge in God.
  • Psalm 3:3; 2 Samuel 22:31; Psalm 5:12; Psalm 16:1; Psalm 71:1; Psalm 119:157
  • To seek refuge is fully dependent on God.
  • David responded by crying out to God for protection.
  • Psalm 55:1-3; Psalm 39:8-9; Psalm 109:28
  • David responded by professing his innocence but surrendered his right to fight back.
  • Psalm 59:3; Psalm 51:4
  • David responded by trusting in God’s justice.
  • Psalm 17:3; Psalm 26:1
  • O LORD, you know;remember me and visit me,
and take vengeance for me on my persecutors.
    In your forbearance take me not away;
know that for your sake I bear reproach.
    Jeremiah 15:15 (ESV)
  • God See. God Knows. And that is enough.

Something to do

God sees, and God knows. Trust Him.
